AS-005: Rare 1950's Austin Power Reserve Gold Capped Auto Watch AS 1488 N Movement
Rare 1950's Austin Deluxe automatic watch with the super rare AS Schilds AS 1488 automatic movement with power reserve indicator. This watch was recently serviced and is keeping accurate time within 1-2 minutes per day. The gold capped case top and the stainless steel case back are in excellent shape. The original refinished dial has the 3 - 6 - 9 - 12 with intermittent buttons design found on so many of the Rolex watches of the same period. The dial is marked: "AUSTIN FM DE LUXE | 17 JEWELS | SELF WINDING | SWISS" The back of the case bears the markings "AUSTIN | DE LUXE | ANTIMAGNETIC | AUTOMATIC | STAINLESS STEEL BACK | WATER PROTECTED | SHOCK PROTECTED". The inside case back displays the following notations: "AUSTIN WATCH CO | SWISS"". The movement is marked: "AUSTIN WATCH CO | SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS | UNADJUSTED | SWISS". The movement also bears the appropriate marking to identify it as an AS Schilds cal 1488 N movement. This is a highly collectable watch, in very good condition.
